Cosmetic dentistry continues to grow in popularity
July 30th, 2019
Cosmetic dentistry is now available in all Dental Care Ireland practices but which treatments will suit you and how effective are they?
Cosmetic dentistry comes in many different formats, all of which can be used to enhance the look of your teeth while often also strengthening your mouth and jaw. Our teams recommend different types to patients, depending on each person’s particular needs.
What are the different types of cosmetic dentistry?
Teeth whitening is generally seen as the most popular cosmetic treatment, but adult patients of all ages are opting more and more for crowns and veneers. Dentures are also popular with older patients as general wear-and-tear take its toll on our teeth.
How much does cosmetic dentistry cost?
Cosmetic treatments vary in price, with teeth whitening now a very cost-effective treatment. More specialist fixes, such as crowns, often cost more due to the personalised nature of the treatment.
Is there a dentist near me that does teeth whitening?
All Dental Care Ireland practices now offer excellent teeth whitening treatments, including three in Dublin in Cabinteely, Knocklyon and Swords and in our partner practice in Dublin 4 Northumberland Dental Care. View details of all our practices online today.
What is the best way to whiten teeth?
The most effective way to whiten teeth is to do so through your dentist. Our dentists will take an ‘impression’ of your teeth and then create a dental ‘tray’ to fit your upper and lower teeth, much like a mouth guard. We will then provide you with tubes of whitening gel so you can whiten your teeth at home.
Is orthodontic treatment cosmetic?
In general, orthodontic treatment is more specialist than cosmetic as it fixes the shape of your mouth. That said, it is still an effective way to correct crooked teeth, particularly in younger people. However, more and more people of all ages are now using orthodontics to fix misaligned teeth.
Is there an orthodontist near me?
The following Dental Care Ireland practices all offer full orthodontic treatment services: Dental Care Ireland Swords, Dental Care Ireland Cabinteely, Dental Care Ireland Knocklyon, Dental Care Ireland Carlow and Callan Dental. Northumberland Dental Care also offers full orthodontic services.
What are dental crowns?
Dental crowns are fitted over cracked or decayed teeth and essentially act as new teeth if the existing ones cannot be restored using general dental treatments. Each crown is created specifically for your teeth in our partner laboratories.
Should I get composite veneers?
Dental veneers are used to cover defects in your teeth. They are created by your dentist who will take moulds of your teeth on your first visit. These moulds are then used to create veneers to fit over your teeth.
What is the difference between a veneer and composite veneers?
Composite resin veneers and porcelain veneers are the two most commonly used materials when creating veneers for your teeth. Your dentist will be able to advise you which is best for you.
What is dental bonding?
Dental bonding – or dental bond-ups – uses a specially formulated composite material to correct minor issues with your teeth, such as cracks, chips, gaps or discolouration. It ‘fills in’ wherever needed. Northumberland Dental Care in Dublin offers this service.
Do Dental Care Ireland fit dentures?
Yes, this service is offered at Dental Care Ireland practices. Dentures are false teeth which can be removed by the patient when required. They can be either full or partial dentures and are made of acrylic/plastic or metal. Your dentist will let you know when you need these fitted and what type will suit you best.
