Dr. John Burke is a native of Tuam. He completed his Second level education at. St Patricks College, graduating in 1994. John attended University College Cork where he received his primary degree in 1999. Upon Graduation John moved to the UK where he worked for 3 years, before returning to work initially as an associate dentist in Castlebar, Co. Mayo. Together with his wife Catherine he opened Abbeytrinity dental practice in 2004.

Since graduation John has continually enhanced his skills and knowledge by regularly attending postgraduate educational courses and through continued investment in technology and equipment at the practice. John has a special interest in CAD-CAM technology (computer aided design computer aided manufacture) and in dental implant placement and restoration. John completed a year-long General Implant Forum and Teaching foundation(G.I.F.T.) course in 2005 and has been placing and restoring implants ever since. He was awarded a postgraduate certificate in the principles of implant dentist from Warwick University in 2011.

Dr Amita Bhagwat is a dentist with international experience, having worked in India, the US and Ireland. She graduated from K.L.E Dental College, Karnataka University, India in 2001.

She started her career in India before relocating to the US where she worked in Orthodontic practice for a year. She subsequently moved to Ireland and has been an integral part of Abbeytrinity Dental Practice since 2007.

Amita practices all aspects of general dentistry. She takes immense pride in the quality of dental care she provides to her patients. She is well known for her gentle touch, patience and giving her patients the best possible solutions to their dental needs, with many patients returning to her over years for their regular dental care and recommending her to their family and friends.

She also has a keen interest in Aesthetic dentistry. She keeps up to date with the recent trends and new technology in dentistry by participating in conferences, attending hands on courses and lectures.

Catherine graduated in 2000 with a complete 1st class honours degree in all undergraduate subjects, a rare result that had not been achieved by another student in the previous 12 years.

In addition to this she was awarded many prizes, some of which are: the Irish Dental Association Prize for the Best Overall Student in 2000; the O’Neill Gold Medal for First Place and Proficiency in Restorative Dentistry 2000; the Ormco A Company Prize for First Place and Excellence in Clinical Orthodontics 2000, the 1998 Dental Council of Ireland Prizes for both Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry and the Edward Gurr Prize for Dental Histology in 1997.

In recognition of her skill at tooth modelling, Catherine was also awarded a coveted Pierre Fauchard Academy Undergraduate Certificate of Merit in 1998 for which she received a summer student scholarship to attend the University of Maryland, one of the best dental schools in the U.S.

Upon graduation Catherine worked in the U.K. N.H.S. for over 2 years in before returning to Ireland. She practiced in Westport, Castlebar and Ballyhaunis before establishing Abbeytrinity Dental Practice in late 2004 with her husband, John.

Dr. María Fernández Fernández is a dental surgeon from Málaga, Spain. She trained at the University of Granada, where she specialized in restorative and aesthetics dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and periodontics. She is committed to providing comprehensive, personalized, and high-quality care, with a strong focus on prevention and long-term oral health.

Before relocating to Ireland, Dr. Fernández worked in two dental practices in Seville as a general dentist, prosthodontic and pediatric dentist.

In March 2025, she presented a research paper at the Congress of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Dentistry and was awarded the 2nd Prize for Best Poster Presentation for her work titled “Analysis of Three Different Criteria for the Classification of Molar-Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) Applied to Pediatric Patients.”

Dr. Fernández is a dentist who believes in continuous professional development to provide her patients with the most effective and up-to-date treatments. She is currently practicing at Dental Care Tuam, where she is dedicated to ensuring that every patient has a positive dental experience and enjoys a healthy smile for life.

Dr Ahmed AlMajmaie is a Dental surgeon with a special interest in Surgical Dentistry, all aspects of general dentistry, with more than 10 years of clinical experience. He believes in providing gentle, honest, and personalised care for every patient, and takes time to explain each step clearly to ensure a comfortable and stress-free experience.

Dr Ahmed has worked with different teams across a variety of roles and positions, and was appointed as a Registrar in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Galway University Hospital, where he practised for three years. He currently works part-time as an HSE Registrar and as a Dental Surgeon with Dental Care Ireland.

With a strong interest in evidence-based dentistry, Dr Ahmed is committed to continuous professional development. He has attended multiple scientific conferences and courses both nationally and internationally, and has presented and published posters and articles.
On his free time he enjoys horse riding and he regularly attended the races in Galway.

Olivia Hanley commenced her career in 2005 as a trainee Dental Nurse and qualified with a National Certificate in Dental Nursing from Trinity College Dublin in 2006.

Olivia continued her training gaining a Certificate in Dental Radiography from the NEBDN, UK in 2008 and a Specialist Certificate in Oral Health Promotion, from NUI Galway in 2010.

In 2012 Olivia qualified with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene from Trinity College Dublin. Olivia has since worked in general dental practices in Galway City and county.

She is trained to provide Oral Health Education and manage all her patients' individual oral health needs.

Aoife joined the practice as a Dental Hygienist in May 2007. She began her Dental training in Trinity College Dublin, qualifying as a Dental Nurse in 1992. She qualified with honours from NUI Cork, in Dental Hygiene in 1999. She qualified as a General Nurse, with honours from NUI Galway in 1997.She qualified with honours in Health & Safety from NUI Dublin in 1997.She achieved SNA qualification with distinction from GMIT in 2010.Aoife is continuously updating her knowledge & skills by attending courses, lectures and conferences. 

She continues to work as a General Nurse at weekends and has carried out voluntary work in Vietnam in Orthopaedics prior to the pandemic. She hopes to work there again in 2022. She is now a Covid tester + qualified vaccinator in her spare time. She completed her own Pfizer vaccination on 1st Feb 2021

Aoife takes great pride in her work and is passionate about both her Dental & Medical careers.
