What Happens When Getting A Tooth Filling?
For those interested in the process of getting a tooth filling, below you will find a step-by-step breakdown.
A special gel (topical anaesthetic) is placed around the gum of the affected tooth using a cotton wool roll. A short injection is then administered (local anaesthetic). This numbs the area and can last for a couple of hours.
Once you’re all numbed up, the dentist will then use a drill and other utensils to remove all decay and damaged area. A gel will be used to clean the area afterward.
Your dentist will then fill the hole in your tooth with the chosen material. They will also shape and polish the material so that your bite feels normal.
This will then be followed by the dentist using a blue light to cure/seal the material in place if composite is used.
