Seafield Dental, previously located on the Stillorgan Road, has officially joined forces with Northumberland Dental Care in Ballsbridge. This merger marks an exciting phase in Northumberland Dental Care’s growth, bringing with it two highly skilled professionals, Dr Aoife Crotty and Claire Murphy, who have joined the dynamic team in Ballsbridge.
Meet Dr Aoife Crotty
In pursuing a career in dentistry, Dr Aoife Crotty has followed in the footsteps of her father Patrick Crotty and her late grandfather Joe Moloney. She qualified with an honours Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Surgery from The University of Sheffield 2015 after having completed a BSc in Chemistry from University College Dublin. Dr Crotty completed the UK Foundation Training programme gaining great experience in primary care practices and family dentistry.
Since returning to Dublin, she has worked at a number of busy clinics and as a Senior House Officer under Dr Aisling O’Mahony at the National Cleft and Maxillofacial unit of St. James Hospital Dublin, gaining great experience in rehabilitative restorative dentistry, aesthetic dentistry and oral surgery.
During this time she was awarded membership of the Faculty of Dentistry by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She has a strong interest in aesthetic and minimally invasive dentistry, being a member of the Irish Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry and regularly attending courses and conferences to keep up with her professional development. She is an Invisalign Go provider and has a keen interest in tooth whitening and composite bonding to create healthy smiles.

Meet Claire Murphy
Claire Murphy is the practice’s latest Hygienist, joining the Northumberland Dental Care team as part of the Seafield Dental merger. Claire’s journey in dental hygiene began at the Dublin Dental School and Hospital, Trinity College Dublin, where she graduated in 1999 with First Class Honors and Distinction, earning her the Dental Council Award for being first in her class.
Claire boasts over 24 years of experience in providing dental hygiene services, particularly to periodontal patients grappling with gum disease and individuals with dental implants. Her expertise extends to treating children, and she has shared her knowledge widely through lectures aimed at both adults and children, emphasising the importance of developing and maintaining excellent dental health throughout one’s life.
Her comprehensive understanding of complex dental rehabilitation and the critical role regular dental maintenance plays in the longevity of dental restorative work is a valuable asset. Claire’s passion revolves around promoting and preventing gum disease, significantly benefiting her patients’ overall health. She firmly believes that prevention is the key to long-term oral health and champions this cause through patient-centred education.
