Our main aim at Dental Care Ireland is to save the tooth but unfortunately, in certain cases it may not always be possible to save a tooth that is badly damaged or decayed.  In this case an extraction may be the only option. Extractions may also be performed during orthodontic treatment.

What happens in an Extraction?

If a tooth extraction is required, the dentist will offer a local anesthetic for your comfort which will numb the area so you will not feel any pain.  In some practices and in rare occurrences, sedation maybe be offered.

The dentist will take an X-ray of your teeth to determine the best way to extract the tooth.

Once extracted, the dentist will advise you on aftercare and recovery.
