    Dr Anne O’Donoghue
    Periodontist
    Dr Anne O’Donoghue graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1982 and completed a Masters in Periodontology in 1986 at the Eastman Dental Institute in London. She was involved as clinical course coordinator of continuing dental education in the Dublin Dental Hospital. Anne previously held a part-time post in the Cleft Lip and Palate unit in St James’ Hospital and the Dublin Dental Hospital.

    Anne is a past president of the Irish Society of Periodontology and an elected member of the European Periodontal Society. She is the founder and principal dental surgeon at the Northumberland Institute of Dental Medicine.

    Dr Nolan graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2001. He worked in general dental practice and specialist hospital practice in the UK, Ireland and Australia. He completed a Doctorate in Periodontology from Trinity College Dublin in 2009. He was then awarded a Certificate in Periodontology from the European Federation of Periodontology, and a Fellowship in Periodontology from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

    He has recently returned back to Dublin after spending the last 4 years working as a Specialist Periodontist in a large specialist practice in Melbourne, Australia. Whilst there, he was also involved in undergraduate teaching in Melbourne University as an Honorary Fellow.

    Rory accepts referrals for the full spectrum of periodontal conditions, their association with systemic disease, mucogingival surgery to correct recession defects, and implant dentistry including treatment planning, implant placement and additional procedures.

    Dr. Breandán O’Niadh graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2004. He worked in general practice until 2012 when he commenced an Implantology fellowship in the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston. While working as a general dentist he completed an introductory implant course in 2009 and 2010 where his interest in this field arose. He completed the two person program in June 2012.

    Dr. O’Niadh was an undergraduate clinical supervisor in the Harvard Dental School while he was training, teaching implant dentistry in the clinics. He was involved in clinical research as part of the Implantology program. His program director and mentor, Dr. German Gallucci, is a world leader in Implant dentistry who has published extensively and contributed to many books on the subject. The Harvard Implantology program is heavily involved in digital dentistry and Dr. O’Niadh is interested in bringing some of these workflows to Northumberland Dental. He represented Harvard at the EAO in Dublin in 2013 and at the North Eastern Implant Symposium in Boston in 2014. Dr O’Niadh joined Northumberland Dental in 2014 as an Implant Dentist.

    Professor Brian O’Connell received his undergraduate degree in dentistry at the National University of Ireland, Cork. Brian completed his postgraduate training in Prosthodontics and Biochemistry at the Eastman Institute of Oral Health, University of Rochester, New York. He continued his work as a Principal Investigator at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

    Professor Brian O’Connell is currently Professor of Restorative Dentistry and Director of Postgraduate Prosthodontics at Trinity College, Dublin. Brian places great clinical emphasis on multidisciplinary care. He has published and lectured widely on Prosthodontics and Implantology.



    Research Interests 

    Prof Brian O’Connell’s current research includes the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells and the early events around implant healing. He is also involved in interdisciplinary projects with the Centre for Research on Adaptive Nanostructures and Nanodevices on the development of novel implant surfaces.     Dr Cullinane graduated from UCC in 1995, following which he worked in general dental practice for a number of years. In 2009, he was awarded an MSc in Endodontics with distinction from the Eastman Dental Institute, London and was the recipient of the Dentsply Maillefer Endodontology graduate prize for the highest clinical and academic achievement. Following this, he has limited his practice to Endodontics.

    He regularly runs hands on Endodontic/ root canal treatment courses and has presented at Irish Dental Association and Irish Endodontic Society meetings.

    In addition, he is a visiting lecturer on the MSc Endodontic programme in University of Central Lancashire and a lecturer, examiner and member of the Programme Committee for the Postgraduate Diploma in Endodontic Practice at the Eastman Dental Institute. Dr Cullinane joined the Northumberland Dental team in 2015, where as an endodontist he provides root canal treatments and related services.

    Dr Lian O’Dwyer graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1999 and worked in general dental practice in Dublin and Australia for several years. In 2002 Lian was granted Membership of the Faculty of Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Lian undertook three years of specialist training at Leeds Dental Institute and St. Luke’s Hospital, Bradford.

    Lian qualified as a specialist orthodontist in 2008 from the Royal college of Surgeons in England and won the J.K Williams gold medal for the best new orthodontic graduate in England.

    In addition to her clinical practice, Lian holds a part-time teaching post at the Dublin Dental Hospital. It is her goal to offer high quality orthodontic treatment at NIDM in Ballsbridge Dublin to adults and children who want to improve their smile.

    Dr Sharon Murphy has over 20 years of experience in General Dentistry in the UK and Ireland. Sharon qualified with an honours degree from University College Cork. Following graduation, she was awarded the O’Neill Gold medal for Restorative Dentistry and the Johnson & Johnson prize for Orthodontics. During her time in the UK, she worked as a dentist in a family practice in Chelmsford, in the Orthodontics Department at Southend Hospital, and as a corporate dental practitioner for King’s College London, Ernst and Young, Anderson Consulting, Arthur Anderson and Sainsbury’s HQ. Sharon then contributed to the growth of the Bupa Wellness Clinic at Canary Wharf.


    Since returning to Ireland in 2005, Sharon has focussed on family dentistry, providing general dental care to patients in a number of practices in South County Dublin and Greystones. She received a Certificate in Cosmetic Dentistry from Advanced Dental Seminars in 2005, and continues to take part in Continuing Professional Development to enhance her skills.

She worked several years in general dental practice and specialist hospital practice in Ireland and United Arab Emirates.

     

    Dr Ahmed was granted by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland the Membership of the Faculty of Dentistry in 2005 and the Fellowship in Prosthodontics in 2014. In addition to her clinical practice, Sittana maintains a part-time teaching position at the Dublin Dental University Hospital.

Dr Michael Carey is a consultant anaesthetist in the Coombe Women & Infants university hospital and in St James’ Hospital since 1995.

Michael is the Director of Perioperative Medicine in the Coombe Hospital and has been  carrying out sedation for Dentistry in the Northumberland Dental Clinic since 2001. Sedation is a particularly useful technique for nervous patients or for those undergoing extensive surgical dental treatment.

Dr Paddy Delaney is a Specialist in Periodontology and Surgical Implant Dentistry. He completed his undergraduate training in UCC and undertook his specialty training at Dublin University Dental Hospital Trinity College. He holds a Doctorate in Dental Surgery (Periodontology) and a Certificate in Periodontology from the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) As a registered specialist in Australia he completed a number of years in the private practice of Periodontics prior to returning to Ireland where he limits his practice to Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. Dr Delaney provides a range of services including treatment of all forms of periodontal disease, periodontal medicine, the treatment of lesions and abnormalities of the periodontal and oral soft tissues, implant therapy and all forms of associated procedures including bone grafting and sinus augmentation. Conscious sedation is available for anxious patients undergoing any of these procedures. He has published articles in both Medical and Dental International peer reviewed journals and has lectured in both Ireland and abroad. Dr Delaney is a member of the Irish Dental Association, The Australian Osseointegration Society, and European Federation of Periodontology.

Joann has worked in dentistry for the past 20 years. Originally from London she moved to Ireland in 2002. She started her career as a Dental Nurse in 1996 and received dual qualifications from the National Dental Nurse Board and Kings College Hospital London in 1999.

She continued working in both private practice and Dental Hospitals including Dublin Dental Hospital and was involved in the training and educating of other dental professionals. In 2006 Joann obtained her qualification in Dental Hygiene with Distinction at Trinity College Dublin and was awarded the prize for clinical excellence. She spent the next 10 years working with dental specialists in Dublin and was shortlisted for Dental Care Professional of the Year 2014 at the Irish Dentistry Awards. She also qualified as an Adult Educator at UCD in 2004. She has a special interest in education and the treatment of implants and periodontal disease.
